With the hot weather now creeping in, or for those of you lucky enough to see all year-round sun, it’s a perfect time to get outside in the garden and fire up your barbeque!

For this fajita recipe, you will need:

* 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce
* 1/2 cup lime juice
* 2 teaspoons olive oil or vegetable oil
* 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
* 1/2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes
* 3/4lb boneless skinless chicken breast
* 4 flour tortillas

This fajita recipe will serve four people.

Directions to make BBQ Chicken Fajita Recipe:

1. Finely chop and fry the garlic for 2 minutes before mixing in the lime juice and BBQ sauce
2. Place the mixture in a bowl and add the chicken breasts, mixing around until covered. Allow to marinate overnight for best flavour.
3. Pre-heat the BBQ making sure the coals are glowing red. Brush the BBQ grill with olive oil and place the chicken on the BBQ
4. Cook the chicken for approximately 7-10 minutes, making sure the meat is completely white inside.
5. Whilst the chicken is cooking, chop up the red pepper into rings and place on the BBQ for the last 4 minutes, flipping them halfway.
6. Using sharp knife, cut the chicken diagonally into thin slices. Remove the peppers and cut all rings in half.
7. Wrap in warm tortilla along with a sprinkle of pepper flakes. Add salad and garnish as desired and enjoy this BBQ chicken fajita recipe!

I recommend a refreshing, crisp green salad to enjoy with this meal. A simple salad I tend to make really quickly is baby rocket, watercress, cucumber, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of crushed rock sea salt. The peppery taste of the rocket and watercress compliments the sweetness of the BBQ sauce marinade.

With lingering nights, warm temperatures and perfect grilling weather, late summer is an ideal time to host a barbecue. However, when you’re in the thick of the daily grind, pulling one off can seem impossible. It’s easy to let the thought of having to plan and organize an event overwhelm you and stop you in your tracks. But if you keep it simple and follow a few basic ideas, you will be able to host a gathering that is certain to be a fun time for guests. Whether you want an intimate bash with a few friends or a larger neighborhood affair, if you approach this event with the right mindset you’ll have guests raving about it and begging you to make it an annual bash.

Alicia on “It’s the Company that Matters Most”:
Hosting a summer barbecue is not about having a perfect party. Your guests are not coming to your home to see over-the-top decorations or gourmet food. They are joining you for good company and some relaxation. With this in mind pick a date and just do it. Don’t make it complicated, with tons of decorations, or spend a lot of money on the food. I know that when folks say they are having a barbecue, I look forward to eating a burger or kabobs, some pasta salad and a brownie or cookie. If you’re worried about the minute details of getting gourmet steaks, serving five different salads, having the perfect wine and fancy desserts, you’re more likely to end up with an uptight and stressful gathering than a relaxed one. Keep the focus on having fun and connecting with your friends, and it will be a great party no matter what you serve.

Sarah on “Enlist Sous-Chefs”:
Delegating tasks is important, especially if the guest list is large. Most guests are grateful to pitch in and help take the burden off you – and that’s especially true at a barbecue. So consider hosting a potluck party and have every guest bring a side dish or dessert. You could even make it a chili cook-off and have everyone bring his or her favorite pot of chili – or do the same thing with sloppy joes. Also, if you decide to have alcoholic beverages at the party, you might want to consider a BYOB. Liquor is expensive and there’s always a ton left over. If each person brings a six-pack of beer or a bottle of wine or liquor, it takes the stress off your pocketbook – and has the added benefit of ensuring that everybody is able to have a favorite drink.

Here are a few tips that will help make that end-of-summer barbecue party a cinch:
#1. Get on Evite.com:
There is no reason to spend extra money on paper invitations for a summer barbecue when you can make them for free online. You can also set up an event on a social-networking site like Facebook and invite friends that way. The other great thing about e-vites is you can usually link to a map site so they can print door-to-door directions to the party.

#2. Set a fun mood:
Get a few hanging lanterns or tiki torches and utilize your iPod. You can create an awesome playlist with just Jimmy Buffet, Bob Marley and the Beach Boys or a mix of your favorite songs. The joy of the MP3 player is that you can be your own DJ.

#3. Top it off:
Make some flavored icy treats. Simply get molds from Target or Wal-Mart and mix lemonade or limeade with fresh pieces of fruit like strawberries or kiwi and freeze for healthy and refreshing goodies for kids and adults.

Party Ideas and themes are always changing, but in the summer we can always count on the Barbeque 4th of July party! Barbecues are also big time summer parties, so make sure to get the hamburger recipes ready. One of the biggest parties planned for the summer is the 4th of July barbecue. Happy Birthday America and to my sister. Since my sister, Joy, was born on the 4th, we always have a big barbecue bash…and it always ends at the fireworks display in my town.

Start The Barbecue With Dip Recipes
We begin the barbecue with chip and dip recipes we have been making for years. Every once and a while we find a delicious and easy dip recipe we add in with our old favorites, but for the most part we use the traditional recipes we grew up with. Bruschetta is an easy one to prepare and it is refreshing on a warm summers day. I like to use quick Mexican recipes too. Dips made with Salsa and black beans are among my favorites. The dip bowls get cleaned out rather quickly, everyone seems to come to our barbeque hungry.

Get Out The Hamburger Recipes
We use the Hamburger Recipes my mother used when we were growing up, but we have taken them to a new level of hamburgerness. I only use the hamburger meat I buy at my small town deli, which has a butcher section. They have the best chop meat I have ever tasted. I use some of it plain. It’s so good you don’t even need to add any seasoning to it. Other burgers we add onions to, some get a little barbeque sauce and some get the whole egg and bread crumb treatment.

Can I Have Some Cheese Please
Almost as important as the hamburgers are the buns. But then there is the cheese. We’ve got Provolone, Cheddar and good old American…and don’t forget the spicy Jack and Peppers. Everyone in my house loves cheese…and of course, the birthday girl doesn’t eat a hamburger with out it. So, at her 4th of July birthday party…cheese is a necessity.

Hot Dogs
Another traditional part of our birthday barbeque are the hot dogs. These frankfurters are placed in their long buns with mustard and just the right amount of sauerkraut for all those party guests who have been craving a hot dog since they walked in the door. I never ever even think about eating a hot dog the entire rest of the year…but I have to have a well done grilled dog every at 4th of July party. I don’t need the baked beans, cooked in the oven with molasses, some do as an accompaniment, but we do serve it at our bbq.

Summer Salad Recipes
Our bbq has to include the macaroni and potato salad recipes we have served for years. I still love our family’s macaroni salad recipe best of all the many I have tried through the years. It’s plain, really. We dice up onions and celery, add it to the cooked elbow macaroni and add mayonnaise. You can add salt if you like, or not…that’s all preference. That’s it. There’s no secret ingredient to make it special or zippy. It’s plain and it’s the best macaroni salad I have ever had. Our potato salad is pretty much the same. No special additives, no extra egg in the mayo, not even any of the dozens of spices that fill my kitchen. The secret to the wonderful taste of our summer salads is their simplicity. Now, of course we have other recipes, that are spiced to the hilt, and hot to the taste, but they are not my favorites. Our macaroni and potato salad bowls are always empty at the end of the day. I wonder if anyone knows we made extra and have it hidden in the refrigerator for tomorrow!

Fourth of July Cupcakes Make A Bang!
4th of July cupcakes are fun and easy to make. We always make several dozen and decorate them in red, white and blue. These patriotic colors are tradition with us, as well as most of America, on the fourth of July. We use white frosting, blue berries and strawberries to design little flag like cupcakes and cakes. There are some great sugar decorations shaped like flags and stars. Use them along with some flag picks and you’ve got some great looking patriotic cupcakes. My favorite cupcakes are the ones with the sparklers in them! You just have to keep them away from the kids, because they want them too. We only put a few of them out on the cupcake tray. It looks so cool, but we don’t want anyone to get burnt, so we are careful with them. I can remember sparklers on the 4th of July for as long as I can remember. Another part of our families tradition that still warms my heart.

Watermelon and Fruit
Our family has always served a big watermelon, cut out and shaped like a serving bowl, filled with every seasonal fruit you can imagine. The main color theme is, of course, red, white and blue. Most of the white is supplied by the ice cream and whipped cream we pile the fruit on. Very red, white and blue, we are patriotic, and very delicious too. It’s a refreshing treat at the end of a hot summer’s day.

Fireworks for Joy
After all the hamburgers and hot dogs have been grilled and the ice cream is beginning to melt, we all know it’s time to go to the park by the High School to claim the spot where we can lay down our blanket. This is where we can hang out, listen to the music from the speakers our town has set up and greet our neighbors as they arrive. There we all wait, until it’s dark and we hear that first roar. Everyone looks up, and there in the night sky, light burst forth. I love fireworks…and there we stay. Among the noise that explodes every few seconds you hear the oohs and ahh’s of the crowd. Everyone more amazed by each new design in the sky than the last. Too soon, our light show is over and the town gathers up their blankets and chairs to head home.

Another 4th of July is almost over. Now it’s time to go home, eat up the left overs and talk about the fun day…oh…and Joyce gets to open up her birthday presents, while we sing “Happy Birthday” over her cake!

High school and college graduations are looming on the horizon. These are special and momentous events for both you and your graduate. Planning you graduation party should be a fun and exciting project. Don’t let your graduation party get lost in the crowd; with some early planning you can host a fabulous celebration. Here are some great tips to make your party one of a kind.

Having four children who graduated two years apart, I have been planning high school or college graduation parties for over a decade. The two most important pieces of advice I can offer is to set a budget and plan early. Figure out how much money you have to spend on your celebration. This is critical, as your budget will determine the number of guests you can have and the venue you will use to host your party. Many families have their parties out at restaurants, in halls or other locations. These will cost more money. With four who graduated within a 7-year span, we knew with our oldest that we couldn’t set a precedent that we couldn’t continue with the rest. So the idea of the “Backyard BBQ” took shape. It’s easy, casual and relatively inexpensive. Plus the outdoor theme allows for a larger guest list for your graduate. Our kids invited their friends, fellow grads, teachers, coaches, and of course, all the family. We ran the graduation parties like an open house.

Once you have a budget and have decided on your venue, then settle on a date and do it early. You will be competing with lots of other parties this time of year and by getting yours on the calendar first you will avoid conflicts. Next decide on invitations. You can order them online or buy them in the stores. However to save money, you can make them yourself on the computer. There are numerous invitation products available in office supply stores that will give you templates to make your own. Be creative… add graduation clipart, a logo from the college or high school of your graduate or even inset a photo! Unless you have room in your house or are having it off site, ALWAYS plan a rain date. Also make sure you have an RSVP with a date deadline and add your email as well as your phone number. A ‘regrets only” RSVP system makes for tricky planning. Recently, I have even seen people use free online invitation services.

For food, your options are numerous if you are hosting your graduation party at home. You can have it catered, you can cook or our family favorite for our barbeque theme is hamburgers, hot dogs and heroes. Add some salads, fruit platters and a graduation themed dessert and you have an easy, inexpensive menu. We set up a “stadium” food booth near the grill. My husband and his buddies were grilling to order, with the condiments and rolls set out at the booth. You make a poster and name your area. For example, at our party for our youngest who was going to DePaul University in Chicago.. we set up the “DePaul Dug Out” and decorated the table with the school colors. For our son, who was headed to Rutgers University, we had a “Knight Stand” as their school mascot is the Scarlet Knight. For another of our parties, I bought cases of bottled water, took off the store label and made my own personalized labels celebrating the graduates!

For your graduation themed dessert you can always make or order a sheet cake. However, I have received great kudos with my graduate cakes. I make dozens of cupcakes and make tags on card stock with the high school or college logo. When our daughter was headed to Chicago for college, I made tags with pictures of Chicago landmarks. I then tape the tags to a toothpick and insert into the cupcakes. Make sure your tags are small enough that they don’t cause the cupcakes to tip over. Display on a platter and you have a unique dessert plate.

One last area that I always budget for is graduation party favors. I have always felt like all the guests should take home a fun gift. There are some creative and unique ideas for making your own graduation party invitations and favors, a fun graduation party decoration and some suggestions for graduation gifts at Celebration Ideas Online. There is also an idea on how to host your college graduation party right on campus. These ideas are sure to make your party a one of a kind celebration for both your graduate and your guests.

“A wonderful way to entertain family and friends in an outdoor setting is with a backyard barbeque party. With proper planning and the right environment people will be talking about your party all summer. Important factors to think about when entertaining are things like the barbeque grill, seating, lighting, and of course the menu planning.”

Today’s barbecue choices have never been greater. The designs and options are wonderful, there really is a barbecue that fits your individual barbecuing needs. Barbecues come in both natural gas and propane grills. Barbecues are available in portable fire pit models excellent for a patio or backyard, giving the feeling of being around an actual fire pit. Other barbecue designs include charcoal-wood grills, portable grills and outdoor stoves. Weber makes some of the most durable and reliable quality grills, using stainless steel burners to provide long- wearing even heat and burners with spider and insect screens to keep the burners pest free. The stainless steel hoods and bodies are long lasting and great looking. Several of the designs also include built in thermometers.

Another great addition to your backyard cooking options might be a bbq smoker. These bbq smokers are perfect for seafood delicacies and traditional barbecue meals like beef brisket, ribs or pork. They are also excellent for chicken, seafood or anything needing direct high temperatures. Briquettes are available that burn for up to eight hours giving a wonderful smoked flavor.

A beautiful patio leaves you with the feeling that your at a cottage or a wonderful outdoor retreat, the nice thing is it’s a much more affordable alternative to owning a cottage. With the great selection of patio furniture and accessories on the market you can design your patio to be your own personal vacation in your backyard. The patio is not only a convenient getaway, but also a natural extension of your home’s design and décor. Black is a popular color for furniture as is antiqued greens with a distressed look. Wooden furniture is again popular, teak being a favorite as it ages so beautifully. Patio furniture is available with armrests, high back chairs and swivel rockers with matching ottomans, all for ultimate comfort. Most of the outdoor furniture sold today is made with all weather fabrics; it’s also wise to select furniture that will be durable and low maintenance.

When throwing and planning a barbecue patio party you’ll want to be prepared and know approximately how many people will be coming. You want to be sure there is enough available seating so everyone is comfortable. You’ll also want to be prepared for unexpected weather. Awnings are an excellent option, allowing you to take control of the weather on your deck or patio in a moment; there are also outdoor tents that you can set up with a table inside to shelter yourself from the rain. It’s important to have at least one outdoor umbrella to provide protection and shade for your guests from the hot sun, not to mention they also look nice. There is no shortage of excellent patio furniture and comfortable outdoor sitting options. Patio heaters are also welcome for cooler evenings after the sun goes down.

It’s important to have a proper serving or buffet surface for your party, a place where you can have all the food, beverages, plates and utensils. Portable carts or side tables can also work well. You may even have a built-in countertop.

The lighting for your outdoor party will only matter if the barbecue carries on into the evening; regardless the lighting is something that is nice to think about as it adds so many ambiences to your backyard setting. There are outdoor solar-powered lights available and other lighting options in several designs. Luminaries, candles, miniature white lights strung between trees or along your patio, or some lovely white paper lanterns hanging from your trees can make your patio extraordinary.

Bug control is a must at your outdoor party. Burn citronella candles to help keep a variety of bugs away. If yellow jackets are a nuisance in your yard, traps are available from your garden center or nursery. Remember to cover food, especially the meat and sweet drinks on the table to protect from bugs.

A few other nice additions to your party might be; gift bags for any children attending the party, you can fill the bags with fun ideas found at the dollar store like glow sticks, crayons and little notepads etc., it’s a nice idea to keep the children occupied; patio heaters are excellent if it starts to cool down in the evening, or for unexpected cooler days; flowers in planters or hanging baskets will further add to the appeal of your yard; lastly a nice variety of music sets the mood and adds a nice overall feeling to your party.

Planning the meal is probably the biggest challenge to your party. You’ll want to know in advance if any of your guests have any special eating preferences, allergies, dislikes. You can always go with the standard burgers, veggie burgers (f there will be any vegetarians attending), steaks and salads knowing that everyone will be satisfied and full. On the other hand, you might want to surprise your guests with a wonderful honey barbeque broiled steak; a simple marinade can be made with garlic, marjoram, salt, pepper, dry mustard, honey, and balsamic vinegar. The selected steak or chicken can then be kept in the marinade for a couple of hours in the fridge, next step is onto the barbecue. Excellent side dishes might be some potato salad, a green salad and corn on the cob.

In the summertime cold drinks are a must. You might make some cold lemonade, and have some carbonated beverages on hand. A nice addition to any buffet table is a lovely punch (alcohol or non-alcohol) with some lemon slices and fresh fruit additions. Always have lots of ice available to keep the drinks cold. For dessert some cut fruit such as strawberries, melon and watermelon slices prove refreshing or a fruit salad can be nice, and of course a nice cake or some cookies is always sinful but popular. Later on, a bowl of corn tortilla chips served with salsa is well liked.

Of course your budget will determine how much you can and can’t do as far as decorating at your party. But don’t let that discourage you, it takes time to get your patio looking exactly the way you want it, in the meantime keep your eyes open and look for ideas. A simple picnic table and some plastic outdoor chairs work well too; a barbecue really is all about the food and atmosphere created.

With some planning and the right atmosphere your outdoor barbeque party will be a success. Whether your party is big or small, a barbeque is a wonderful way to get together with your closest friends and family members to enjoy the summertime and some great food.

Graduation parties are a great time. In this day and age it can be worrisome for parents when their kids are out all night at a graduation party, especially during the high school ages. Having your eighteen year old child out all night can be very nerve-racking.

What can you do to keep your mind at ease, throw your kids a safe party, and let your kids still have fun? The best way to do this is to have a grad night party. Grad nights are popular with high schools.

A grad night is fun, controlled, and safe because the kids are basically locked in a gym or hall all night. They are all checked into the building at the start of the night and are not let out until the next morning. The kids are allowed to run amok all night all they want in the building, but at least they are in a controlled environment and not on the streets!

Grad nights can be enhanced by adding an inflatable joust, bungee run, slide, or inflatable movie screen to the mix. These things can be very fun for the kids and gives them an activity that can really tire them out. This is good for the chaperons because the kids will tire themselves out and hopefully fall asleep.

Grad nights are great fun for kids and adults alike. Adults can take comfort knowing that their kids are safe in a controlled environment. Consider throwing a grad night for your child’s next graduation. Everyone can have a fun and safe time!
